Charles Dallara

Senior Advisor to the Chairman

Charles Dallara is the Executive Vice Chairman of Partners Group Holding AG’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the Group’s Americas Division. He has 38 years of experience in global finance and economics. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Scotiabank, The Bertelsmann Foundation NA, Director at Large of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a member of the Senior Advisory Board of Oliver Wyman Financial Services, Vice-Chair of the Board of Advisors of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy as well as a member of the International Advisory Board of Lingnan College, SunYat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China.

Prior to joining Partners Group, he was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of International Finance (IIF) (July 1993 –January 2013). In this capacity, Dr. Dallara built the IIF into one of the most influential global associations of financial institutions.

Mr. Dallara played a leading role in the handling of many sovereign debt issues, including in the Greek debt restructuring. He was also substantially involved in global regulatory reform working closely with regulators, Central Bank Governors and the leaders of Financial Institutions to strengthen the global regulatory framework for financial services. Previously, he was a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan & Co (1991 – 1993). He also served in the US Treasury Department from 1976 to 1991. During this time, he held a variety of senior positions in the Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations, including Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Policy Development and United States Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In these capacities, he played a role in key US economic policy initiatives such as The Plaza Accord and The Brady Plan. He holds a Master of Arts, a Master of Arts in Law & Diplomacy and a PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, Massachusetts, USA, a Bachelor’s degree in economics and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of South Carolina, USA.
